International Report for AGM 4th December 2012 -- Terry Healey
  • Shelter Box #10456. I have finally tracked down that this box was deployed to Ethiopia on 17/10/11.
  • The club supported the Healey family whilst hosting Anastasio (ROMAC patient) and his mother Maria from East Timor from 21st May until 31st July. Outings included Adelaide Zoo, Cleland Wildlife Park, Waterfall Gully, Glenelg, Coorong, Victor Harbour and many retail adventures including Harbour Town.. They came with little but took home the full baggage allowance. Maria was able to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of East Timor’s Independence at Flinders University with the local East Timorese community.
  • The District chair of ROMAC presented the club a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ for our financial support of ROMAC and our two hosting from Solomon Islands and East Timor.
  • On 18th September we had Hitomi Baba from Japan who is an Ambassadorial Scholar talk to our club. She is studying Special Education at Flinders University.
  • On 20th November we had Susanne and Keith Harris speak to our club concerning a housing project at Koroipita village, Lautoka, Fiji. They are organizing a Group 5 working party in July/August 2013.
  • An International dinner is being organized for February 2013.
  • Also several International toasts will be conducted in the New Year.
  • Also Noarlunga East is looking for partners in a matching grant to send two ambulances to Tonga. I hope we can support this project.
