2006 - 2010. A story of Celebration and Community Benefit
2006 saw this Club look to commemorate and celebrate its beginnings in a project that would deliver community benefit, would promote the Rotary brand and Rotary's work within the community. Hence  the search for a project, with everything considered from a Rotary wheel on a round-about to digital signs. 2006-07 it was put forth by then President Wendy Gaborit,  that the Club consider building a gazebo in the grounds of the hospital. The gazebo would provide a place for patients to sit in solitude or to visit with familyOnce agreed, the selection of a suitable site and design became necessary, and discussions with the CEO and Board of the Hospital initiated.  2007-08 Community Service Drector Joy Burgess, took up the challenge, with Joy travelling the district looking at pergolas. Architect John Bratkovic, came on board, providing the concept drawings & specifications.  2008, saw the Club work with the Hospital Board, Council Planners & State Development Planning Commission to agree to planning approval. Some months later with a revised drawing and specifications to withstand 300km winds & emergency services flight plans considered, planning approval was granted. Meanwhile the plans were  put out to tender.  2009  saw the appointment of the Builder and letting of supply contract to local business - Southern Steel Supplies.  Want to be part of this project, then you can have your family, business or pet immortalised on a brick floor paver.Clickon  any one of the following to:-  Buy a Paver
