Radio 5MU Auction

Another successful combined Rotary Radio Auction was held last October 2008.

On Saturday, March 24th 2007, the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge and Radio 5MU held their inaugural Rotary Radio Auction.

This important fundraising event was held to gather funds that will provide immediate relief to those in need in times of crisis, such as local citizens losing their homes to fire, tragic accident victims requiring emergency assistance or other worthy community causes as determined from time to time by the board of trustee’s, consisting of representatives from The Murray Bridge Rotary Club, Radio 5MU and 1 bipartisan community representative.

The radio auction was broadcast on 1125 5MU on the Saturday where phone and in person bids were taken on items kindly donated by organizations throughout the morning and minor items were ‘knocked down’ every 10 minutes.     Major donated items ran as an auction item for the 3 hour duration.

There was NO RESERVE on any item, and past experience in other areas had shown this to be a most successful way of gaining the best results and attracting the greatest amount of bids/listeners/participants.

A total of $9927 was raised.   Many thanks to the co-ordinators John Whimpress (Rotary Murray Bridge) and the General Manager of 5MU
