1996/97 - President : Dean Byrne

New members inducted : John Williams, Garth Noble and Ron Lil. As you are all probably aware our President Dean Byrne, for reasons known personally to himself in February 1997 resigned both as President and as a member of the Club. With Deans resignation it fell upon the shoulders of four of our Past Presidents between them to take on the duties of President. On behalf of the Club I thank Peter Armitage , David Goodman, Laurence Newby and Phil Burns for their efforts in ensuring that the club has continued to function and serve the community as it has always done. Dean at the beginning of the year set himself and the Club certain targets. The majority of those targets were achieved before his resignation and the rest have since been achieved. We were also involved for the first time in Short Term Exchange, and Kim Hey from Masterton, New Zealand arrived in January and Leah Haines from Christies Downs went to New Zealand in May when Kim returned home. I suppose the greatest community project by us was with Noarlunga East joining the Reynella Club the originators of the project in the organizing and promoting of Carols by the Lake for 1996. This was a great project. It gave not only enjoyment to the 16.000 and more members of our own club but also with those from the other two clubs involved. Thanks go to Dean for the time and endeavour he took in getting the Club involved and to Laurence Newby who served with Dean on management Committee of Carols by the Lake. The project was recognised at the 1997 District Conference as the most outstanding community project within the District.

1997/98 - President : Robert Kidwell

New member inducted : Ian McGeachie. At the beginning of the year Robert set objectives and targets for the club to try and achieve. In most of these cases we met those targets. The only area we had difficulty in was Membership. This problem is not one that is unique to our club as it is very common to all Service Clubs around Australia. On a positive note we had a very successful year in fund raising and a lot of credit must go to Robert's wife Denise in organising the fashion/wine tasting and Quiz nights. As a club with a very reduced membership we were still able to participate in the Port Noarlunga Street Fair, Carols by the Lake, Australia Day breakfast and the Art show at Colonnades. These projects which were successfully completed showed one of our great strengths- the ability to organise events. The carols were recognised as the best Community Service Project in the City of Onkaparinga and the award to the three clubs, Reynella, Noarlunga and Noarlunga East was made at the Australia Day celebrations. This year was to be our last of the selling of the District Governor's Port, which had been going for the past 27 years. As a result of the sales of the Port $1100 was contributed to the DG’s project the Flying Doctor service and a further $1000 to Rotary foundation.

1998/99 - President : Peter Ellbourn

New member inducted : John Birg. It was certainly a proud moment at the recent Conference to be the first cab off the rank with the awards - Best Attendance by a club oat the conference and to get a Presidential Citation was the icing on the cake. A special mention must be made of District Governor Geoff Simpson not only has Geoff been seen and heard, but also, both he and his wife Joy have joined with us in an active, hands on role with our clubs activities during the year. Once again we supported the Port Noarlunga Street Fair and the Carols by the Lake and I thank all the members for their help prior to and on the day. The evening was again a great success and gave pleasure to thousands of local families on the weekend before Christmas. Once again we ran the annual Art Show at Colonnades in March. The club contributed $1,000 to the Tidal Wave Disaster in Papua New Guinea. We assisted caring for carers by providing a Christmas Dinner and night out. Because of the economic climate we gave the Salvos Emergency Fund a donation of $1.500 for the Mayoress Christmas Appeal. The club again provided breakfast on Australia Day for those attending the Naturalisation Ceremony. Close to three hundred breakfasts were served. The final project for the year was the assistance of athletes to attend the Sydney 2000 Paralympics. We have had the pleasure of a short term exchange student staying in our district. Stephanie(Steph)Ranum from New Zealand has been staying with the Busutill family for the past school term. Again we sponsored four students in Indonesia. During the year Mission Employment asked Rotary for assistance Mentors. We gave $300 to Matt Wenham for his overseas trip to the World Science Conference.

1999/2000 - President : David Goodman

The construction and installation of raised garden beds for the a severely handicapped person allowed us the opportunity to undertake a worthwhile hands on project. Another project of similar worth was the installation of a bus stop at Perry Park. Our clubs involvement in the tunnel walk will be a day I will long remember. The club hosted yet another successful Art Show. All Club members, partners and friends must be congratulated for a magnificent effort in feeding so many people so much food and by so few people at the Australian Day breakfast. Francis Newman must be recognised for his input to the Siemens Science Experience. The address by Sarah Busutill proved the worth of the Short term exchange programme. Director Robert Kidwll orchestrated a successful hosting of the GSE team from district 2320 Sweden. Saturday June 3rd the day started off with a wine bottling at the home of Sue and Peter Ellbourn and finished with a night of Fellowship and fun at Rotary Hall where the GSE team from Sweden gave their address. Highlight of the night was presentation to Laurence Newby of the Four Avenues of Service Citation for individual Rotarians. I was very proud to accept on behalf of the club, two trophies for attendance at the District conference.

2000/2001 - President : Ian McGeachie

New members inducted : Rob Edwards, Paul Kemp and Mel Scholes. Its said that a week is a long time in politics well a year is a short time in Rotary. As a group we have achieved more than some of the bigger clubs within our district. For the third year in a row we took out the attendance award at Conference. We are still involved with Perry Park some thirty years after we helped found it. Our Art Show continues to be a success both from a fund raising activity and the support it gives to local and interstate artists. The Australian Day Breakfast has become a masterpiece of planning in catering. Mayoress Christmas Hampers once again saw us supplying some 40 hampers for the under privileged within the community. We were able to assist with a $250 donation to Fred's Venn this year our contribution of $500 went towards a Night out for the Carers. Photos and lovely thankyou letter received. A film night was held once again this year to raise funds at The Range CFS site. The club invested $1,040 in the purchase of Emergency Medical Information Booklets and donations by those who received the booklets were $1,030. It was hoped that this programme can continue in the coming year.

Stationary bus(Bus to Nowhere)Sadie’s Dream. The plan is to convert the bus into an outdoor sheltered coffee lounge come meeting place where residents can have some privacy when visiting with their friends and relatives and where staff can talk to relatives in a relaxing atmosphere away from the nursing home environment. The idea of the bus to go with the shelter and bus stop is to be know as “Sadie’s Dream”. The project to raise funds for the wheel chair lifting gear for a bus acquired by Perry Park has been a major project for the club. To date approx $9,000 has been donated. The club has made a donation of $1,250 to the Salvation Army. $250 of this was used by the Salvation Army to assist a family in their relocating within the Onkaparinga area. S.O.S Village received a $1.000 donation and we supported RYWEL again. McLaren Vale Rotary Club asked us to transport books, teaching aids and sports equipment to Tanzania. This was organised through Donations in Kind Network. Finemore Transport and an ore-carrier to transport the gear.

2001/02 - President : Laurence Newby

The winning of the Ivor Lewis trophy and the Community Service trophy at the Conference and receiving the Significant Achievement Award were an appropriate climax to a very successful year for the Rotary Club of Noarlunga. The Rotary Club shed was completed at Lonsdale at long last (5 years) enabling us to store our BBQ and equipment. Dr Richard Laycock who was a GSE team member from our club in 1973 spoke to us about his experiences since that time. We continued with our art show, Australia day breakfast and Mayoress Christmas Hampers. The Sadie’s Dream bus was completed at Perry Park and opened by Mayor Ray Gilbert. We cooked a BBQ for the opening of the Wave Wall at the arts centre Port Noarlunga. The club had dinner at Parliament House followed by a tour and certificates to commemorate the visit. A Grasby Syringe was presented to Perry Perk Palliative Care Unit and some beach seats to the Morier Ward Noarlunga Hospital. The club organised a Mental Health Forum along with daughter club Noarlunga East. We continued to sponsor students in Indonesia.

2002/2003 - President : Peter Ellbourn

New member inducted : Ken Barrett. The postponement of the annual Art Show this year was extremely disappointing not only from the Clubs perspective but for the local artists who participated. The decision to not hold the Art Show was not taken lightly, but rather imposed upon the club by circumstances beyond our control. Whether an alternative venues becomes available or changes in corporate policy occur in the future to reserve this decision only time will tell. Two well know faces will be sadly missed by members passing of Past President Mike Frost and Nan Ross they will be sadly missed by members but not forgotten. Both contributed in their own way to the success of our club. The memorable event of the Rotary year took part on the 13th July 2002 with the appointment of our avid supporter Ann Harrison as an Honorary Member two days before her 90th birthday which was celebrated in grand style by club members and friends. Well done Ann. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards were presented to Carrie Oakey and Nicholas Armstrong. A new function this year was the Anzac Youth Vigil, which was run by a committee in conjunction with the RSL We the Rotary club were invited to cook the breakfast at the Morphett Vale RSL club on Anzac morning and we are looking forward to being invited to cook again next year this is to be a yearly event. Again we sponsored four students in Indonesia from whom we have letters of appreciation and thanks together with translation by Rotary Australian World Community Service. The club made a donation of $300 towards the 50 water purifiers sent to the Solomon Islands. The purifiers are needed because of the amount of lead there is in the soil. The club has this year sponsored a short-term exchange student Ben Holecek. The New Zealand student Andrew Owen is at present living with Ben’s Family at Morphett Vale

2004/05 - President : Rod Whyte

This was the Centenary Year of the formation of Rotary. The theme for the year was Celebrate Rotary 100 years. It gave Dini and I great deal of pleasure to represent our club at most of the celebrations that took place over the year, culminating in the Centenary Dinner/Dance held at the Morphettville Conference Centre with some 800 Rotarians and guests present. As well as the multi faith service at St Peters Cathedral followed by the BBQ on the lawns of Government House, both of which were well attended by club members and their partners. We were able to place well-made toy boxes filled with toys in two police stations and the local hospital. An article about our toy boxes was in the Rotary Down Under magazine thanks to David Cookson. As always we have been able to complete with success all the events that we carry out on an ongoing basis. Namely the Australia Day Breakfast, Noarlunga Art Show and the Breakfast on Anzac Day morning. A business on Beach Road was closing down and they offered us some white goods. These we were able to donate to the Eyre Peninsula bushfire appeal. The Board ran a musical evening with Die Eisenbahn Spieler a 22 piece Oompah Band. One of the highlights of the year was our visit to the Mosque in Woodville North. The Club sponsored a perpetual trophy for the inaugural Multi Cultural Poetry Competition in the Poetry Unhinged Festival. We once again participated in the Youth Opportunities programme food hampers for the Mayoress Christmas Charity tree. Save-A-Mate provides training for young volunteers who provide First Aid. Counselling and any help needed at Youth Parties, Festivals and Schoolies Week. To finish the year we cooked a BBQ for Southern Futures at Colonnades. This was reconciliation Day which was a great success. We continued our support for Project 85, which is a program in Indonesia operated by the Salvation Army. We made a donation of $1.000 to the Foundation. We collected 12 boxes of love to send to the Tsunami Appeal and continued to support RYWELL and YOUTH OPPORTUNTIES. This year we held a BBQ twice a month on property adjoining the Market that is held on Beach Road. Paul Harris Fellowship awarded to David Cookson

2007/08 - President : Wendy Brearley

Wendy Brearley was the first female member and first female President for the Rotary club of Noarlunga. During the year the club did not obtain any new members, however this was not without trying as the club held a membership display at Seaford Shopping Centre. Where members manned a static display of Rotary materials, showing local and international projects. Our major fundraising activities for the year included, The Annual Australia Day Breakfast, the ANZAC Day Breakfast, held at the Morphett Vale RSL and various Sausage Sizzles held throughout the year. The club Held it's most successful Art Show so far, as we sold nearly 20% of all paintings exhibited. The club supported many organizations during 2007/08, such as ARHRF, Guide Dogs, Operation Flinders, Prostate Cancer Foundation, DIK, Poetry Unhinged, Peter Nelson Leukemia Fund, RDNS Palliative Care, Noarlunga Hospital and Morphett Vale High School's Breakfast Club and many more. On the New Generations front we were able to send a student Andrew Nelson to RYPEN.

2008/09 - President : Dini Whyte

New Member inducted : Craig Cooper.
The year started with Rod and I going to Canberra for the Presidential Membership Conference, which was attended by Rotary International President Dong Kurn Lee and his wife Young. This was a 3 day event attended by Rotarians from Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands. The Conference was a thought provoking and inspiring experience.
We made a big change by moving our meeting venue from the Christies Beach Hotel to our very own Rotary Hall, where we now meet every Thursday evening for a “Supper Meeting”. Attendance at the meetings has been very positive.
I just want to mention some of the highlights of the year. You will find detailed reports from all Directors in this Annual Report.
Most of our members braved the cold at the “footy gates” for the Southern Football league. This has proved to be a good fund raiser for us. We organised a very successful Quiz Night with our very own Quiz Master, President Elect Alan Nelson. Five of our members and partners journeyed to Mount Gambier for the District Conference. As well as some very thought provoking guest speakers, a number of social events were enjoyed by all. Membership, as always, has been a focal point throughout the year.In November I had the privilege of inducting Craig Cooper as a member of our Club. Craig’s contribution and enthusiasm is very much appreciated by us all. The Australia Day Breakfast was once again a huge undertaking, this time ably organised by PP Robert Kidwell. I was able to “supervise” from a vantage point under the big tree in my wheelchair and my leg in plaster! The Anzac Youth Vigil in the South is now a regular feature on the April calendar. Craig Cooper represented our Club on the Committee and helped organise the event. It was my pleasure to attend the official opening on the evening of the 24th of April. The Noarlunga Art Exhibition was well attended, although sales suffered because of the current economic climate. Comments from artists and viewers alike have been very positive. A visit to DIK unearthed a skeleton of a PDG in a closet while we were there to help do some general tidying up. You’ll find a photo with proof of the event at the back of the report. The Combined Group 5 meetings, where we heard some great guest speakers, were well attended by our members. Being President allowed me to attend some very interesting and enjoyable functions and presentations. Some of these were the Sea Scouts BBQ by the Onkaparinga River, Poetry Unhinged, presentation of Indigenous Scholarships, the Anzac Youth Vigil as mentioned earlier. We have had some interesting guest speakers and an enjoyable vocational visit to my workplace (where one of my young male co-workers still talks about meeting Denise Kidwell). As well as our club and fundraising functions, we had some good social get-togethers.I owe all members and their partners a debt of gratitude, for without them, their support and hard work, we would not have been able to do all the things we have achieved this year. We were able to donate considerable sums of money to Rotary projects and various other, local organisations. To survive as a Club, it is up to all of us to recruit new members. We belong to a great organisation and should sell it as such.It has been an honour and a great privilege to serve the Rotary Club of Noarlunga as President for the 2008-2009 Rotary Year.
We were able to Make Dreams Real

2009/10 - President : Alan Nelson

2010/11 - President : Tony Rutten

2011/12 - President : Dini Whyte
This Rotary year was another successful one for our small but vibrant Club.
While membership is still an issue, I was my privilege to induct 3 new members this year.
We have been active in New Generations by sponsoring 2 students to attend the Health of the River Forum at Cullularaine as well as 2 students to attend RYPEN and a Rotaractor from the new Rotaract Club of Flinders to RYLA.
Our relationships with the Port Noarlunga Sea Scouts as well as Seaford Rise Primary School have strengthened along with our continued involvement with Christies Beach High School.
The new amalgamated Morphett Vale Primary School is the subject of one of our new projects.
The ROBIN Project, part of the joint District 9500/9520 Rotary Environmental Projects, is also new to our Club.
We celebrated our Club’s 45th birthday with a dinner at the Vineyard Kitchen in McLaren Vale.
The Australia Day Breakfast was once again successful and my thanks go to PP Robert Kidwell and Denise for their work in assuring all was ready on the day. Thanks also to the many friends and relatives who helped on the day.
The Club reluctantly decided not to go ahead with the annual Art Exhibition, due to lack of sponsorship and the amount of time and man-hours needed to facilitate such an event.
We again attended the “Footy Gates” for the Southern Football League and lunch was provided for some 200 team members at the Lonsdale Desalinisation plant.
Last October it was my pleasure to attend the inaugural Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast at South Adelaide Football Club with Community Service Director Sue Curtis.
The Anzac Day Gunfire breakfast was attended by many and we would not have been able to make it the success that it was without the help of our friends and the Port Noarlunga Sea Scouts.
The Club has been active in International Service, mostly through DIK and Operation Cleft.
This year’s District Conference in Mildura was attended by 4 club members and 2 partners.
Our very own Ian Parsons and his wife Nettie rode their bikes to the conference and in doing so raised in excess of $3000.00 for Australian Rotary Health.
The District Assembly in Murray Bridge was also well attended by our members.
The Community Service portfolio is always a busy one and the full report will appear on the following pages.
Some Club members and partners attended quiz nights organised by RC Hallett Cove and Port Noarlunga Sea Scouts.
The Group 5 combined meetings are always well attended and we enjoyed the meeting where members of the Rotary Club of Hallett Cove joined us for a combined meeting.
As DGE Roy Armstrong said at the District Assembly, above all Rotary should be FUN (the new 5th test being “Let’s have Fun”).
We enjoyed a number of social gatherings which were well attended by members and their partners.
Please peruse the full reports by the Directors in this Annual Report.
My sincere thanks to all club members, partners, friends old and new, because without you, none of what we have achieved this year would have been possible.
