The President’s comment on the year ahead
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
Welcome to the new Rotary year as we implement the Club Leadership Plan. As the 44th President of this Club, I look forward to leading the year and working with the experienced Board and members to realise our plan. The Board has been meeting for some time in preparation for this year and the program will be a busy one and cover all avenues of service.
This year our Club has embraced the CLP and I thank the members for accepting this responsibility. No longer does the Board have Directors for each individual avenue of service, these avenues are now represented by the Service Projects Director, we have added to the Board directorships in Public Relations, Rotary Foundation and Membership, these new positions need to be addressed at Board level to strengthen our Club and make it and Rotary grow.
Projects will now be organised and run at club level, ie the members with their sub committee’s will fully plan each project and arrange the necessary manpower to see the project to completion. This year under Service Projects, the Club in conjunction with Norwest Sunrise Club and Baulkham Hills Shire Council we are looking to implement the “Men’s Shed” program to provide a workshop environment for members of the community to work on projects and enjoy fellowship. Meetings have already been held and the feedback is very positive.
Fellowship is very important in Rotary, we look forward to providing a variety of social functions and having fun throughout the year, please become involved and join in the fun. This plan is designed as a working tool to guide the club and its members through the year, by no means is it a definitive document, changes throughout the year may cause us to either add or delete programs. It is the Boards endeavour to see this plan to fruition, to make these dreams real we require the full support of all members.
As the theme for the new Rotary year suggests “Make Dreams Real” I challenge all members of the club to share our talents and experience, become involved, take ownership of projects and your Rotary year will be most enjoyable.
Yours in Rotary
Peter Marcer.
