Meadowbank Ferry Cruise Links the Generations

Each year in November Epping Rotary Club arranges a cruise down the Parramatta River and into Sydney Harbour for residents of local nursing homes and retirement villages.
Members of the Rotary Club collect people from Shalom, Shalom Court, Dorothy Henderson Lodge, Yallambi and Yallambi Court and take them to the Meadowbank wharf where a Sydney Ferries rivercat picks them up and takes them on the cruise.
The ferry travels down the Parramatta River to Darling Harbour, Circular Quay and back again. On returning to Meadowbank Wharf, afternoon tea is served.
As well as the Rotarians, prefects from Epping Boys High School and Cheltenham Girls High School also attend to lend a hand.

Baptist Community Services provide buses which, along with private cars, are used to transport everyone to and fro for the day. The outing is much anticipated by the residents of the nursing homes.
Sydney Ferries are always very helpful in making every effort to provide a rivercat for the cruise.
In recent years the local Member ofr Epping, Greg Smith and his band The Tokens have provided musical entertainment on the cruise, singing a range of old time classics.
The ferry trip is reported in the Northern District Times.
