Treasurer

Norman West

Norman married in 1965 and was a widower in 1978. In 1982, he remarried, and his blended family comprises his lovely wife Lorraine, two daughters and two sons.

After a short period working in the family business, Norman completed an accountancy course and he has been a CPA since 1965, working as a CFO in a number of large public and private companies. In 1997, Norman retired from his position as CEO of a large Sydney Leagues Club. The retirement only lasted for four months, until he became a sole practitioner accountant, working from home. The practice involves a substantial amount of audit work which requires a considerable amount of travel within NSW. Norman enjoys this work immensely and believes that he will still be doing this until he drops off the perch.

Norman has been fortunate enough to have travelled extensively, both within Australia and overseas, and he enjoys reading and listening to classical music. Norman and Lorraine gain much pleasure from their role as active Guide Dog Puppy raisers.

Immediate Past President
Membership Director

Dale Larsen

Dale is a physiotherapist, having graduated from the Cumberland College of Health Sciences in 1979. In 1982, she undertook a Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy before joining Lynette Harmond in 1985, as co-principal of the Macquarie Street Physiotherapy Centre in Sydney’s CBD. Following this, she continued her studies in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy by completing a Master’s degree (1996) and a doctorate (2005) at the University of Sydney.

Dale has extensive teaching experience, having conducted numerous post graduate courses for physiotherapists under the auspices of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), and as the co-ordinator of the Master of Health Science (Manipulative Physiotherapy) at the University of Sydney. After leaving her position as a lecturer at the University of Sydney in 2005, Dale was appointed as an Independent Physiotherapy Consultant by WorkCover NSW.

Dale’s experience working on voluntary committees for over 20 years has mostly been gained with her professional Association.  During that time she has served as the President of the NSW Branch and member of the National Public Relations Committee (1993-1994); Director of the APA Board (1995-1997); Member of the National APA Research Committee (1996); Chair, NSW Branch Professional Standards Panel (1996-2003); Deputy Director Professional Services Review (Ministry of Human Services and Health) (1996-1999); and Chair of the APA Sydney Olympics and Paralympics Committee (1994-2000).

Dale regards Chairing the APA Sydney Olympics and Paralympics Committee as a career highlight. In this role she was instrumental in obtaining funding from the APA to send two physiotherapy observers to the Atlanta Olympic Games. Liaising with the American Physical Therapy Association she was able to arrange for two of her committee members to observe the organisation of medical and physiotherapy services at numerous sites during those Games. This provided SOCOG with a rich source of data which assisted in the preparation of physiotherapy services for Sydney (and in turn, Athens). In 2000, over 250 APA physiotherapists provided voluntary services for teams from countries without the resources to bring their own therapists.
