Drummoyne Rotary looking to fund Community Projects
Drummoyne Rotary has set aside $10,000 and wants Inner West community groups to apply for a share of the kitty.
“A portion of our annual turnover is set aside each year to fund special projects put forward by local sports, cultural, school or similar non profit community groups,” said Dr Dale Larsen, President, Drummoyne Rotary.
"We are a major contributor to many local community groups that do not get regular funding or recognition
“It is the projects like providing comfort quilts for the elderly in nursing homes (The “Stitching Hearts” Charity Group) or a shade tree for the Abbotsford Long Day Care Centre, that people never hear about, and what Drummoyne Rotary is all about.
“Our members are actively involved in fundraising and get a lot of satisfaction knowing that these grants have a positive effect in the local community.”
Last year, some of the community groups that benefited from the annual grants include:
· Abbotsford 12 Foot Flying Squadron
· Abbotsford Long Day Care Centre
· Australian Breastfeeding Association – Canada Bay group
· Croydon Cottage
· Drummoyne Preschool Kindergarten
· Friendship Group, St Albans Anglican Church, Five Dock
· Home Education Association, Five Dock
· Inner West Neighbour Aid
· St Mark’s Primary School, Drummoyne
· The Stitching Hearts Charity Group, Cabarita.
Groups seeking funding need to write a short executive summary (no more than 2 pages), outlining what they do, why they need funding and what it will be used for.
A committee of Rotary members will decide which projects to fund.
