3. Demonstrated an involvement in the industry and or their associations.
4. Is highly motivated and displays high leadership skills
5. Has a consistent academic record.
Final Year students in the School of Hospitality & Tourism at the Sutherland College applying for this award will be required to :-
i.Submit a short Cv detailing their employment history within the Industry.
ii.Submit a report detailing the innovation, product or new service implemented by them and how that innovation has improved a process,or reduced costs without reducing the quality of the product or service.
iii.Submit a short report from the applicant's employer indicating the applicant's preformance in respect to motivation and leadership qualities and the verification of the innovation and its benefits.
Note applications close on the 30th November each year and should returned with all supporting documentation to the Senior Head Teacher , Hospitality & Tourism Loftus Campus Pitt Street Loftus 2232
The Award of $500 with an engraved plaque is presented to a selected Student in May each year at a combined Rotary / College Presentation evening following the School's Graduation Night.
In addition to the main award, a number of encouragement awards consisting of Engraved plaques may also be presented to applying students .
2009 Awardees
On the 24th May, the Rotary Club of Engadine held its 12th Annual Presentation Evening in the Gatewood Training Restaurant at the Loftus Campus of Sutherland College. The 2009 Rotary Club of Engadine Vocational Service Awards were presented to Seven graduates from the School of Hospitality & Tourism.
Our Major Awardee for 2009 is Samantha Brown of South Hurstville. Samantha graduated in the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management from Sutherland College during 2009.She is now studying for her Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management at the Sydney Hotel School in association with the Southern Cross University.
Encouragement awards were also awarded to the following graduates :-
Beau Allen - Beau who lives in Gymea ,graduated in the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management - she continues to work in the Hospitality industry
Jemma Finigan - Jemma lives in Yowie Bay and continues to work with a catering firm in a major St George Club. Jemma graduated in the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management in 2009
Lucy Iffland - Lucy lives in Miranda and graduated in the Diploma of Hospitality Management - she is currently studying for her Bachelor of Education ( Primary) at the University of Notre Dame, Sydney.
Rory Purser - Rory lives in Gymea and graduated in the Diploma of Hospitality Management He is currently studying for the Bachelor of Business(Hospitality) at the University of Wollongong whilst managing a well known Shire restaurant.
Alyce Simon- Alyce lives in Illawong and graduated in the Diploma of Hospitality Management she continues to work in the industry at a major Sydney five star hotel
Emma Wilson - Emma lives in Barden Ridge and graduated in the Diploma of hospitality Maqangement - she is now studying for her Bachelor of Education (Primary) at the University of Notre Dame, Sydney
