- The first trek was run in 1990 when petrol was $0.65 / litre
- Only cars made before 1971 are allowed to participate
- the Trek is still run under the original principles; to have fun , see Australia and the raise money for the Fying Doctor service .
- In 2009 the RFDS will celebrate 81 years of providing a free of charge mantle for people all around this great country
- The 2008 Trek raised $1,677,000 which included $56,150 raised by the PKF team
- The RFDS flies over 20,000,000 kilometres each year spanning an area of 7,150,000 square kilometres.
- RFDS personnel attend to 250,000 patients per year, while their doctors receive about 200 calls per day via their radio system from remote locations . They also attend to about 100 emergency evacuations/ day
- The RFDS has 48 aircraft operating from 21 bases across Australia
- and finally it costs the RFDS about $180million to keep the service operating each year.
To Greg and the PKF team the Rotary Club of Engadine wishes them a very successful fund raising trek .
