Rotary sponsorships available for the Siemens Science Experience

This Science Forum has been designed and managed by the Science Schools Foundation, sponsored by Siemens a major world wide technology company and promoted and supported by  Rotary Clubs in Australia. It is conducted in association with participating universities and tertiary institutions, Rotary clubs and with the support of the Young Scientists of Australia as well as the Australian Science Teachers Association

The Siemens Science experience is a three day hands-on learning experience in Universities for year 9 students entering year 10 the following year. Each program is designed to provide those students  having an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.

The program takes place in over thirty-five universities and tertiary institutions, within many different laboratories and lecture theatres. Participants perform experiments in the laboratories, meet and hear senior lecturers in the lecture theatres, attend site visits and walk around and experience what it is like to be on the campus of a university or tertiary institution. More than 45,000 Year 9 students have taken this rare opportunity, up to date.

The program also provides information about further studies in science, technology and engineering. It highlights the wide range of careers that allow students to pursue their interest and abilities in the sciences.

One aspect of the programs often commented on by participants is the opportunity to meet and share ideas with students from different schools. Each program includes a BBQ or other social activity.

Students wishing to attend should access the Science Experience website for application forms, on line registration, dates and  locations of the respective programs. Those seeking Rotary sponsorship should contact this club's Youth Services Director John Walters by  email
