Interplast Australia & New Zealand was founded as a Company limited by guarantee in 1983 by then Rotary District 980 and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Interplast Australia & New Zealand has performed ‘life changing’ operations free, to children and young adults in over 20 developing countries suffering from cleft lip and/or palates, burns and other deformities.

The average cost of a two week program to a developing country is $40,000, allowing patients to be treated in their home country in familiar surroundings and with family support. The cost to perform one ‘life changing’ operation is approximately $650.

In its 26 year history, Interplast Australia & New Zealand has established a reputation for high quality service delivery as well as the ability to balance both the humanitarian and development needs of the country in which they visit. During this time hundreds of overseas medical personnel have been trained, and over 70 have been sponsored to receive part of their training in Australia.  Over 600 volunteers have been on nearly 500 programs to 24 countries, performed over 30,000 consultations and conducted over 18,000 life changing operations.

The demand for Interplast Australia & New Zealand’s services remains high and continuing financial support is essential. If you have an occasion for a speaker, please phone for a Rotarian or a member of Interplast Australia & New Zealand’s surgical team to speak to your Club or event.
