Wally Bradley Quiz 2017

It was a very busy night on June 2nd when the Rotary Club of Encounter Bay and the Fleurieu Community Foundation hosted the 2017 Wally Bradley Cup Quiz Night in the Encounter Bay Football Clubrooms.

The night was sold out over a week before the event and 18 tables vied for the Cup and a share of the over $1000 worth of prizes, all supplied by generous local businesses.

There was a tie for first place between ‘Newton’s Law’ and ‘The Hobbits’ with another 4 tables tying for third place – ‘The Dunny Doors’, Shuttlecocks’, ‘Sandy Cracks’, and ‘Baa’.

After being presented with the Wally Bradley Cup by Rotary President Marilyn Shaw the winning teams agreed that the cup should be displayed in the Victor Harbor Public Library where it now proudly stands.

The questions were compiled and presented by Peter Lewis and covered such categories as sport, history, Victor Harbor, and music. In between rounds, competition was fierce to solve the ‘Who Am I?’ questions presented by Ken Carter.

Mike Kelly did a tremendous job, marking all the papers and entering the scores, while Barry Pryor and Bruce Brocklebank looked after the door and collected the money. Deidre Hughes organised the raffle which raised over $450.

Overall the night raised around $2500 which will go into the Wally Bradley Award account to help the club present the Wally Bradley Award later in the year.
