Baulkham Hills Community Garden

The Rotary Club of The Hills-Kellyville, in conjunction with The Hills Shire Council has established a Community Garden at the Conie Avenue Reserve, Baulkham Hills.

A successful Registration Day  was held on the 27th of March 2021, at which  prospective members joined and for those wishing to have their own garden bed these were allocated. This was followed by a presentation by Rotarian Bruce Pike who has long experience as a nurseryman. Bruce gave a number of expert tips on soils preparation, best plants to plant now and mulching.  It was also decided to have a meeting every Saturday morning at which members could exchange ideas as well as tend their garden.

At  such meetings other interested people coulld also join the group.  There are still a few unallocated private plots or people can aalways join as members and tend the communal plots.

If you are interested, please come along to the Saturday merning meetings or contact the Project Chairman Rotarian Keith Stapley on 0412 079 014.

Other information

As the use of the site has been negotiated between The Hills Shire Council and The Rotary Club of The Hills-Kellyville it is a requirement that all persons joining the Community Garden Group have to be Friends of Rotary.

While most of the initial costs in setting up the garden have been met by a Federal Grant and the generous sponsorship of Bunnings, Cooks Plumbing Supplies and Turtle Nursery Supplies as well as The Council and the Rotary Club there will be other ongoing costs which members will be responsible for. To meet these costs the Steering Committee has decided to initially charge an annual membership fee of $40       which includes the cost of being a Friend of Rotary.

If members want their own garden plot there will be an additional charge of $50 per annum.
