PDG Kevin Parkinson died on 2 July 2013.

Kevin has been a Rotarian for more than 50 years, He first joined RC of Unley, and then transferred to the RC of Campbelltown on 8 June 1970, where he held the classification of Further Education. (He was a retired High School Principle.)

He is a PHF, PHF Sapphire Pin and a Companion of Australian Rotary Health.

He was president of the RC of Campbelltown in 1976, and then led the district as its District Governor in 1985.
The theme of his District Conference was "The Campbells are Coming", because it was held locally at the St Bernard's Centre, Campbelltown, Kilts were the dress code. Outdoor events were at Thorndon Park, where the Loch Ness Monster even made an appearance.  He made the Conference lots of fun, a tradition which has continued.

Since then he has served the District as chair of the Peter Nelson Leukemia  Fund, and latterly as Probus Chair.  He has served on the Foundation committee, been in charge of Foundation Scholarships and International Fellowships.

In all his Rotary commitments he has been ably supported by his wife Connie, particularly in their hosting of exchange students and his role as DG.

In our club, over the years he has held every position on the Board.  He was always a gentle.man who exemplified the ethics of Rotary.  To so many in the club he was a mentor with his knowledge and love of Rotary. We will miss him for this and his keen sense of humour.
