ROTARACT CLUB TO BE LAUNCHED ON 21st February 2011.
Can you help, please!
A Message from PDG David Roberts
Today I attended the first full meeting with the University of Flinders concerning the formation of a new ROTARACT CLUB. For my sins, I am now the Secretary of the Steering Committee. Since we do not have another Club meeting until January 11th, I need to call for your assistance now please.
The six Group Five clubs are combining to get this exciting new venture underway. Along with the other five clubs we will be asked to provide seeding money to provide food for the two initial "interest" meetings and then the AGM. This may entail our club being asked to put on a FREE BBQ at Flinders University.
The Steering Committee is now asking for everyone in the six clubs to think long and hard about who we can invite to come to the "interest" meetings. Membership of the new Rotaract Club is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 29. They do NOT have to be attending the Flinders University. Do you know any likely starters? If so, please talk to them. The actual dates of the "interest" meetings will not be decided until the next meeting of the Steering Committee on January 14th . Young people who may be worth approaching are:
- People we have sent to GSE, on Youth Exchange, Ambassadorial Scholarships, NYSF, RYLA etc. In other words, young people who have already positively experienced Rotary.
- Previous Interactors who are 18 or more.
- Students starting at Flinders University in 2011
- Students currently in graduate or post-graduate degrees at Flinders University
- Anyone between the ages of 18 and 29 who you think might make a good Rotaractor.
If you know anyone, please approach them and then let me know if they are interested. I will need names, phone numbers, postal address and email. We hope to build up a substantial group to help launch this club before the start of the academic year.
