Max O'Connell came to dinner !

Another Good Day

Joint Meeting with the Lions

On Tuesday, 15th February we had a great meeting. We were hosting a joint meeting with the Lions of Hallett Cove. As you remember, we work well with our local Lions Club. Both of our clubs work for humanity and there is no competition between our two clubs. Until now(!) that is! They have challenged us to a game of ten pin bowling. Well, I suppose, we could set a side this "humanity bit" for couple of hours and give them a run for their money!

Our guest speaker was Max O'Connell, formerly a Test Cricket Umpire, Football Umpire and a good sport.

His presentation was most interesting and most entertaining - he had us in stitches all of the time.

Apart from the entertainment we learned a great deal about the life and the travails of an Umpire.

It was a busy meeting and many guests came to enjoy the evening.

District Governor Nominee Roy Armstrong and District Chair of Inner Wheel Marilyn Armstrong, PP Alan Nelson of Noarlunga and  Honorary Members PP Harry Barnham and PP Ric Wilson enjoyed a good laugh too.

At the end of the evening we presented Max with now much improved "aluminium bat" purportedly made by the grandson of Dennis Lillee.  Max is a good sport and he enjoyed the gag as much as the others.

Pictures below should describe the meeting better than thousand words. Enjoy!
