Men's Shed

Completion of the Men's Shed Program

CASTLE HILL MENS’ SHED was launched at the “Expressions of Interest” public meeting held at the old Scout Hall on Eric Mobbs Reserve in May 09

Mayor Larry Bolitho attended the meeting which had been jointly organized by Hills Shire Council and the Rotary Club of Castle Hill. President Peter Marcer welcomed the 41 men who attended the meeting and some casual visitors as well. Councillors Burnett, Preston, Byrne, Bentham and Taunton were also involved in the meeting and offered support.

The 4th Castle Hill Scouts and Bushcare were represented: a good sign of a positive co:operation between kindred agencies in the area. Members of other Mens’ Sheds were present and made a real contribution to the discussion.
Renovation work was completed over the winter months and referbishment with many donations of tools from the community has turned a little shack into a "full on useful place" for people to meet and work on thier favorite projects from repairing bikes to making a salad bowl.
With all relevent paperwork complete, the committe elected and handover initiated, upon reflection of all concerned, it was a "wonderful experience with an outstanding results" for the community of Castle Hill.

A genuine Rotary Community Service Project, "Mens Shed" project is a shining example of what can be achieved from a single idea and with enthusiasm, compassion, expertise of men such as the Castle Hill Rotary team and of course plenty of elbow grease and documentation ink.
