ENCOUNTER BAY ROTARY HELPS GARDENING PROGRAM

The Rotary Club of Encounter Bay recently donated a lawn mower and a blower-vacuum to Community Living Australia to support their new gardening project in Victor Harbor. Community Living Australia is a local not-for-profit organisation that supports people with a disability to live life to the fullest by encouraging active participation in their communities, supporting them to reach their goals and increasing their independence.

Michelle Nahlous, the Regional Support Officer for the Fleurieu said that the garden project will be used to further develop participants’ life skills and independence in particular regards to gardening and home maintenance.

Daryl Van Rhoda, a manager at the Port Elliot Mitre10 store facilitated the purchase of the equipment which was presented to the group by the Encounter Bay president, Barrey Niven.

‘This is another example of Rotary working with the community to help make a positive difference in people’s lives,’ Barrey said at the presentation.
