At its meeting on Monday 17 July 2023, the Rotary Club of Campbelltown (RCC) donated $2,068 from the Junior Sports and Recreational Grants Scheme, that is administered by the RCC to the Athelstone KinderGym.
BUSINESS AND PERSONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD - REG BENNETT
At the changeover lunch of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown held on Sunday 25 June 2023, President Michael McCabe awarded Reg Bennett with our first Business and Professional Excellence Award.
On Tuesday 4 April 2023, the Rotary Club of Campbelltown, aided by a facilitator from each of the Rotary Clubs of Northern York Peninsula, Morialta and Magill Sunrise, delivered the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness program to about 100 year 10 Students from Charles Campbell College.
Members of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown, People of Action, partnered with Meals on Wheels at the Campbelltown Memorial Oval, Paradise, to provide members of the community with a fantastic Christmas lunch.
There was great food (roast turkey, vegetables, plum pudding and a special treat), entertainment, coffee and lots of chatter.
Special visitors included Mayor Jill Whittaker, Newton ward councillor Anna Leombruno and River ward councillor Jagdish Lakhani who recently became a member of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown.
Community members were surprised when Santa also dropped in.
Attendees were wished a Merry Christmas and encouraged to return to the Community Connections Cafe on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month in 2023.
Saturday, March 18th 2023, Campbelltown City Council celebrated its Community BBQ with Neighbour Day 2023.
The Rotary Club of Campbelltown SA members were delighted to provide the cooking and serving of the Halal, Gluten Free and Veggie BBQ.

At the Rotary Club of Campbelltown's 57th Birthday dinner on 13 February 2023, Past President Elizabeth Gagliardi was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow with one sapphire pin in recognitions of her service to our Rotary Club, the local community and to her support of Rotary International projects.
The Rotary Club of Campbelltown awarded a Pride of Workmanship award to Bohdan Lapka at its 57th Birthday dinner meeting on Monday 13 February 2023.

On Wednesday the 17th of August, President Michael McCabe of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown SA, presented a new book to launch our Club’s Project, Books for Babies at the il nido Children’s Centre Campbell Rd, Paradise SA.
President Michael McCabe said this Community Service Project engages our Club with mothers and our youngest members of our local community to support early learning and this in turn reflects Rotary International’s ideals of support for Maternal and Child Health and Global Literacy.
A cold drizzly day but many Rotarians , volunteers and friends turned up to a successful outing with a most relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. There were many activities to take part in, including an exercise session run by Elena Russo and a delicious scone making demonstration by Angela Ruotolo. A huge thank you to all that were involved and those that assisted with set up and pack up . A delicious pumpkin soup was supplied by Meals On Wheels ( FOC) for all to enjoy, thankyou to Mark from MOW for delivering and talking us through reheating procedure. To our very own Community Director Elizabeth G thank you for the flawless delivery of a worthwhile community initiative. We're looking for ward to the next one on the 25th August.
Claire is a four-time Australian Senior Trampoline Champion. Claire is a member of the Australian Trampoline Team which strived to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. She has represented Australia at over 16 international competitions, making the finals at World Championships and World Cups in the synchronised event. Claire grew up in the Adelaide Hills with her younger brother and parents. She has been doing gymnastics and aerial sports all her life including artistic gymnastics, diving and trampolining. Outside of the gymnastics world, Claire is currently studying Physiotherapy in her 4th year. Claire works as a physiotherapy assistant and coaches at Gymnastics SA and Blackwood Trampoline Sports. Claire works with the Australian Olympic Committee as an ambassador bringing the Olympic Unleashed Program to primary schools. This program inspires students to find and unleash their passion. In her spare time, Claire loves to travel - her favourite country is Italy where her family is from. Claire returned from Italy only last month following the final Olympic qualification event. She loves to cook, hike, go to the beach and hang out with her friends and family. I’d like Claire to come forward and share her experiences with you.
At the end of 2020, the Rotary Club of Campbelltown sponsored and helped establish the Interact Club of Charles Campbell College. Interact Clubs involve members between the ages of 14 and 18 – our secondary students. At the same time, through Nikki the chair of our club’s Youth Committee, we supported Charles Campbell College to establish an EarlyAct Club for students in the primary years, up to the age of 13. The mission of EarlyAct is to promote goodwill, understanding and peace through student service - so that with the committed citizenship and effective leadership they can improve the quality of life of their school, local and global communities. At a young age, students can easily be encouraged to be caring and helpful. Young people are open to recognise the dignity and worth of each individual, thereby building their respect for others. Earlyacters engage in character building activities that prepare them for leadership roles - they carry out projects which benefit others. In addition to supporting their school’s Breakfast Club, the EarlyAct Club has initiated a Backpack Project to help those experiencing homelessness. Three members of the board of the new Earlyact club - President Lily, Vice President Tahlia, and Treasurer Ruby discussed their project to the club below.

It is my great pleasure to introduce our speaker who is going to enlighten us about what to expect in the topic “The Coming Year” Jeff Neale’s involvement started about 50 years ago, attending’ Family Meetings’ at the Rotary Club of Campbelltown with his parents Reg n Shirley Neale. Jeff joined the club in 1990 n served as President in 2007 - 2008. He is a Paul Harris Fellow with 3 sapphires. Jeff is married to Jenny, they have 3 adult children and a new grandson. He is the Dealer Principal of Paradise Mazda, a family business started by his father. Please join me in welcoming Jeff Neale who is our newly elected District Governor.
District Governor Jeff Neale presented Member Alyssa Morran with a Paul Harris Award in recognition of her contribution of $1000 to the Rotary Foundation. Alyssa said she made the commitment to pay a small recurring monthly payment some years ago as she believed in the Rotary Foundation and it was so easy to set up and she can show any members who would like to do the same, how it is done.
At our meeting on the 12th July District Governor Jeff Neale introduced his father Reg Neale who was the 1966 foundation member of the Club.
Note : Reg was unable to attend Jeff’s District Governor Induction at last Sunday’s District Conference due to Covid restrictions but it was a great pleasure & honour for both Jeff, members and guests, to have Reg at the first Campbelltown 2021-2022 meeting with Jeff as the new District Governor for the Rotary Year 2021-2022.
