About Our Club's Territory

Being surrounded by national parks, Engadine has within its territory , some of the most spectular coast line and bush land in this state . As you enter the district from either the north, south or west , you soon become aware of  the surrounding National Parks and the rugged nature of the countryside  . The Royal National Park is  Australia's First dedicated national park and the world's second. In the Heathcote National park, the ridges and drier slopes are covered in forest dominated by angophoras and eucalypts such as bloodwood, greygum, Sydney peppermint, and scribbly gum. Following the upper reaches of the Woronora River leads to the Woronora Dam and reservoir which form part of Sydney's water supply
The photos below are some of those scenes.

        CLUB SYMBOL

From 1973 to 1997, our Club symbol was a diagram of an atom highlighting the Club's early association with the then Atomic Energy Commission. During our 25th year the Club resolved to change its symbol to the lyre bird which can still be found in the deep surrounding gullies of the  suburb

September 2010 | Rotary New Generations Month

Welcome to The Rotary Club of Engadine as we begin another year of service and friendship for the year of 2010-2011.

I am very much looking forward to the year ahead leading this very dynamic club with the same enthusiasm and the continuance of our annual events whilst looking into the possibility of new projects.

Our very successful bike ride from Sydney to Southport will be in its 13th year and as in previous years Youth of the Streets will be the main beneficiary of the funds raised. [ Click to see more ]

Our major event for the community is the " Carols for the People"  and this year will be on Friday the 10th December 2010 .

I am very pleased that our club is again participating in Rotary's Youth exchange program with the Hosting of Anna Tove Brohede, an exchange student from Sweden for twelve months.Tove  will be attending Engadine High School.

As part of our International Service program our club will continue to support  a District sponsored Matching Grant to provide more water tanks for Villages affected by Cyclone Guba in Oro Province PNG.[ see Oro water tanks program ]

Our club will maintain our strong local focus with other associations namely Loftus TAFE[click for TAFE awards ] , the Sutherland Early Support Service which helps struggling new mothers and U Turn the Wheel, an initiative school students approaching driving age.[click to see more]. And we continue to support a number of local community and youth groups. Our youth programs are many and extensive [  Refer to our Youth Programs section ]

Engadine Rotary is pressing on with a development application to provide a permanent outdoor performance Pavilion in Cooper Street park.  Subject to DA approval , this pavilion stage will eliminate the need to erect  and dismantle  temporary stages for all those outdoor concerts and events that are held in the park each year by the various organisations. We will be shortly seeking community support to assist us with the Development application.

For Young adults, our club has introduced a Young Rotarians membership open to those younger members of the Community who are time conscious[ click to see more ]. This, is indeed a vibrant club representing a wide cross section of our Community .

We welcome guest at all of our meetings and hope to see you here ;  see meeting details opposite.

Another Carols for the People success

With favourable weather and a great line up of entertainment , the Rotary Club of Engadine conducted another successful Carols for the People on Friday 10 December at Cooper Street park.
