MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR

On behalf of the district leadership team, the presidents of the fifty one clubs and the members within our District let me welcome you to our web page. I believe you will find it interesting, informative and relevant to the great work of Rotary International both locally and across the world.

This web site will help both new and experienced Rotarians, as well as visitors, to know more about the many programs available to and conducted by Rotarians.

It will also be a great help in giving you access to the fifty one clubs in our District who will welcome your enquiries about their projects, plans and membership and the many areas of service we embrace.

In addition, you will find information about our Rotary Foundation which supports many worthwhile humanitarian aid programmes around the World and provides many opportunities for international cultural and educational exchanges for young people. In particular, the Foundation has spearheaded the eradication of Polio over the last 25 years with great success.

I know that everyone who visits our web site will find it a valuable resource which is regularly updated and revised to reflect Rotary’s “Service Above Self” promise to our community.

DO TIME FOR WOLLOOMOOLOO PCYC'S BIG 75th BIRTHDAY

Cumberland Courier - 10th April, 2012

ESTABLISHED in 1937, Woolloomooloo PCYC was the first PCYC to be built in NSW.

Known as the Police-Rotary Boys Club, it was built in a disused police station as an initiative of Police Commissioner William John Mackay and the Rotary Club of Sydney.

Today it is one of the state’s most progressive youth clubs, offering sports, arts, recreation and training. It even offers a home to Sydney Youth Orchestra which rehearses and performs in the Riley Street premises.

The PCYC is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a Time 4 Kids fundraiser at Martin Place on April 13. Mark Bouris, chairman of Yellow Brick Road and “the boss” on The Apprentice, will preside over the festivities. The PCYC will set up a jail cell in Martin Place and will encourage community and business leaders to “do time to stop youth crime”.

Participants will be locked in for 30 to 60 minutes and will need to raise a minimum of $500 bail to be released. All bail money will be donated to the club and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible. Joining Mark Bouris in the lock-up will be Brad Fittler, Belissa Bell, John Fink, Sean Moran, Paul Fenech, Burce Collins and Marcus Droga.
