President's  Message

It is with much pleasure that I welcome you to the Rotary Club of West Wollongong.

Our club is one of the friendliest organisations you could wish to visit and we pride ourselves in being very active in all programs of Rotary.

We provide support for our District with many of our members participating on District Committees.

The club has always been successful in retaining members due to the close bonding and the very active fellowship that exists.

You will find that by browsing through our web site and club history you will gain a picture of all the clubs programs and member activities.

We support our local district and contribute to Rotary International programs as well as providing urgent assistance to overseas disaster appeals.

Should you be interested in joining Rotary or just wish to be better informed please do not hesitate to contact me on 0417 660 526 or Rotary Illawarra on 1300 768 180.  Email:  jimhaakon@hotmail.com

You will be surprised what Rotary can do for you!

Kind regards

Jim Christensen

 What is Polio?
A crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease, polio (poliomyelitis) still strikes children mainly under the age of five in countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Polio can cause paralysis and sometimes death.  Because there is no cure for polio, the best protection is prevention. For as little as US$0.60 worth of vaccine, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life.

It can cause paralysis within hours, and polio paralysis is almost always irreversible.
In the most severe cases, polio attacks the motor neurons of the brain stem, causing breathing difficulty or even death.

Historically, polio has been the world’s greatest cause of disability.
