Tag Along Tour Tree Planting

This report was recently sent to RI President Ian Riseley

We are delighted to report that 21 trees have been planted at Tennant Creek in Central Australia on Sunday July 9.

The planting was inspired by your call for tree planting.  The project is a wonderful partnership. It includes the Rotary Club of Kununurra who has a Club Friend who donated 21 native trees. The Rotary eClub of Outback Australia who located planting places at the Tennant Creek Show Grounds and at the Country Womens Association facilities. And members of the Over The Top Tag Along Tour 2017 who dug holes and carried out the planting. Governor Elect Greg Marlow, District 9550, of Tennant Creek, was vital to the project in locating the site and in involving the local Work Camp in protective staking and the local Girl Guides in ongoing watering and care.

The Rotary eClub NextGen based in District 9640 has just conducted the 4th Tag Along Tour. This year it travelled from Atherton to Broome and back to Longreach. It visited clubs on route including Atherton, Mt Isa, Darwin, Darwin Sunrise, Kununurra, Broome, Longreach and eClub of Outback Australia. The primary beneficiary being the Royal Flying Doctor Service which is an essential medical service covering 80% of the Australian continent.

Members of the Tag Along Tour represented Rotary Clubs of Takapuna, Tauranga Te Papa, Walcha, Bundaberg East, Broadbeach, Ashmore, Mackay North, George Town, Cowra and eClub NextGen.

We admire the inspiration for this excellent initiative and trust other remove locations will be planted.
