From the President's Desk

Good Evening Fellows Rotarians and e-Club Facebook Friends,

I am still recovering from an awesome weekend hence the lateness of my President's report. Friday night was a Going Away and 19th Birthday Party for our youngest Kristen who is off to Germany in 14 days. As you can imagine it was a late night but nevertheless both Kristen and I were happy to be a part of the first e-Club BBQ at Bunnings the next morning. The wonderful Chris, Lynn, Ian and Heather were there all day, with Cameron there for the morning and although it was a little rainy we felt it was a very successful day. Saturday was Kristen's actual birthday and as we all know Sunday was Mothers' Day and to all the Mums out there we hope you had the best day and were spoilt rotten. Monday and yet another birthday this time my wife Ingrid's, so WOW what a weekend!

Last week's Forum was Carol Ronken from Bravehearts and how things have changed in such a short time since our girls were at high school. No longer is it only necessary to place the computer in the family room but Carol told us figures of children as young as seven having mobile phones and being able to access the internet in their rooms. Please keep the lines of communication open with your children, so they will tell you if something happens. The Bribie team also found a connection with Carol and will be emailing her regarding their newsletter that goes out to the Moreton Bay Shire.

Happily this week's Forum is on a brighter note with Amy Beths one of our Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) applicants talking about her time at the camp. Amy is quite an accomplished sportswoman and has competed in State, Australian and International teams in European Handball as well as Cheerleading.

So, if you have anyone that you think might like to go to RYPEN next year, get them to join in tomorrow night Tuesday, May 14th at 8pm HERE. I believe we have one interested applicant already for 2014.

This week our wonderful Kaye Titmarsh who was a 'Purple Shirt' at RYPEN and if you don't know what that means you will find out tomorrow night when you listen to Amy's presentation but she also spoke at the Boonah Rotary Club about how an e-Club works. Our younger Members are setting a precedent as Ella Horton has also been asked to speak at the Canberra Rotary Club today also about our e-Club and our safares. There is a lot of interest out there in our exciting e-Club and Next Gen of Rotary.

Yours in Rotary,

Rick Jewson

President (for 4 more weeks!)
