From the President's Desk

Hi Fellow Rotarians and Friends of Rotary,

'First World Problems', if you haven't seen this short video please do so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxyhfiCO_XQ it really shows what some people believe are disasters.

Last week, at our Thursday Night Forum we heard from Ella and Walking for Solar. Ella and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) got signatures and raised money for the trip down. Ella ran market stalls and a chocolate drive and four of the AYCC took part in the Repower Port Augusta Walk for Solar.   Not only did Ella help us to understand more about solar but also gave us ways of contributing to a safer climate future in Australia. So we hope it has given you enthusiasm to look at your energy needs a lot closer.

Ella's belief in making this a better World to live in does not put her in the "some people" category and we are so lucky to have her as part of our e-Club. If you didn't get to the Forum last week, please have a look at the presentation in the Dropbox, you will also be super impressed with this amazing young lady. If you haven't taken advantage of the Dropbox and have no idea what I am talking about, please contact our Secretary Chris:   secretary@rotaryeclubnextgen.org and he will walk you through the steps.

Chris has also asked me to mention that you need to fill in your details on the website: http://www.rotaryclubnextgen.org/ . Once again if you haven't logged in and started putting in your service hours he is more than happy to help and show you how to do it.

Lauren and the Kiva Committee are very pleased with the donations that are flowing in from our e-Club Members but they still need more to get to their starting goal of $500.00. So if you have a spare few dollars, nothing is too small please deposit any funds into the E-Club Bank Account or through PayPal. They are looking forward to working with Kiva and helping many budding entrepreneurs around the world. Here is a short video that describes Kiva: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPix4M4Obt4&feature=related

One more piece of housekeeping, if you have any ideas on guest speakers or you yourself would like to give a presentation on a project you have or are taking part in please let us know. As part of the Citrix Goto Meeting Software you are able to be a presenter from home and also able to share Power Point presentations without a problem. As shown by last week's Forum with Ella.

On a wider note, "Join us on World Polio Day, 24 October, and make your voice heard. Rotary created a page on the social media serviceThunderclap, which enables supporters to sign up to share a single message through their social media accounts.

For more information about polio, visit http://www.endpolio.org/."

Yours in Rotary,

Rick Jewson
