Team Nextgen Messages

Hi there and hello Team NextGen!

I hope this email finds you well, thanks to those who joined us online last Monday for our initial meeting. Hopefully we can make things work with everyone’s schedules for future meetings so we can see more people online.

At the first meeting of Team NextGen on Monday 17 March  we were able to discuss some great plans for moving forward with our vision for the team. Special thanks to our more experienced e-Club members who joined us online for their assistance in the process.

At the moment we have planned to hold another online meeting on Monday 14 April and a face to face meeting on the evening of Wednesday 14 May. I would love for the meeting on 14 April to cover off topics to be discussed at the meeting in May so we could really get cracking on some great activities. The 14 May meeting is to be held at Rick and Ingrid’s place (thanks guys!) and it would be brilliant if maybe we could all bring a friend, as well as a plate, to see if we can boost numbers for the team. I'm sure everyone knows someone who would be brilliant in Rotary. At the moment I have the honour of being Team Leader but hopefully at the next meetings we can discuss plans for who would like to be in the role next and when that would be.

For now, if you have any ideas for activities/fundraisers/programs you think the team should be involved in, please get some thoughts together for April and May, it will be great to hear them! It was amazing to read some of the responses supplied in the questionnaire and I look forward to hearing your thoughts about how our team can progress them. These include:

  • Book fundraiser to support the Pyjama Angels
  • Go-karting for under-privileged local children
  • BBQ's (maybe we could help out with the bbq's the e-club organises or use the trailer for our own?)
  • An event to get past RYLA attendees together - At the meeting we also discussed the possibility of supporting Tim with Advanced RYLA, this could be a great starting point for the team
  • Social events for the club to raise money
  • Raising awareness of Rotary and various causes
  • Participation in various Rotary days/events/initiatives
  • Mix of long-term and one-off projects
  • Running the alumni dinner for the Rotary Youth Exchange Program
  • Painting over graffiti
  • Ball for fundraising

These are such fantastic ideas, I actually love them all and they make me so excited for the possibilities of where we can take the team. I can’t wait to work with you all! A Facebook group has been created as an easy way of keeping in touch with each other, posting ideas and positive thoughts and organising meetings. It's called 'Team NextGen - District 9640' Please feel free to invite as many people as you feel would be interested to join the group, the more the merrier!

Thanks again everyone.

Regards,

Kaye
