The North Shore has made the Times its own
The North Shore Times is the market leader in local news, current affairs, entertainment and real estate, all tailored specifically to North Shore residents. With many readers enjoying harbourside frontage and close proximity to the city centre, the North Shore is a highly attractive region incorporating an exclusive commercial centre surrounded by traditional neighbourhoods.
The area has some of the best sporting, recreational and educational facilities, and residents are a diverse cultural mix, with a wealth of different backgrounds.
The North Shore Times is closely engaged with this well established community and the paper carries more local news and lifestyle content than any other newspaper in the area. It is essential reading for both newcomers and long term residents.
Circulation averages 66,670 with a readership of 96,000.
Catherine Zuill is the Editor and says her brief "is still the same as it was in 1960: to give the readers a paper that is all about local news and stories that affect them". On May 11, 1960, four years before he founded The Australian, the then 29-year-old Rupert Murdoch launched the Times as a free 40-page tabloid with a 75,000-copy print run.
"I personally oversaw production of that first edition, and even today I like to keep tabs on the Times," Murdoch writes. "I had just acquired the Cumberland Newspaper Group ... the North Shore has made the Times its own."
The North Shore Times is one of 24 mastheads in the Cumberland Courier group,
