Welcome to the Rotary Club of Sutherland's web site:
The Rotary Club of Sutherland is a proud member of Rotary District 9675.
The District encompasses Sydney City, Sydney south of the Parramatta River & surrounds, including the Macarthur and the Illawarra regions.
Our Club is one of six Rotary Clubs in the Sutherland Shire, located on Sydney's southern outskirts, historically significant as the 'birthplace of modern Australia' from the landing of Captain Cook at Kurnell in 1770.
Of course due to the virus pandemic restrictions both of these activities are cancelled till further notice.
We have two regular fundraisers that run most of the year
(eg not in January, and occasionally we can't operate the odd weekend due to other commitments):
- A second-hand Book Stall at Sutherland Markets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays.
If you have books to donate, just bring them along to that or contact us.
- A BBQ at IGA Taren Point on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.
An international project that we strongly support is
Rotary Solar Lights.
These replace dangerous kerosene lamps and open fires or expensive diesel for generators in 3rd world countries with small LED light packs recharged by a built-in solar panel. The lights can be clipped together to make larger panels.
See their fabulous web site at: www.rotarysolarlights.com
Note: This is RAWCS Project Number 36 / 2011-12.
RAWCS is 'Rotary Australia World Community Service'.
