The
Rotary Club of Willoughby was chartered on 10 September 1985. The inaugural charter meeting was held on 11 October 1985. The first President was Warwick Bateman, then and now a member of the Rotary Club of Chatswood, the Club that chartered Willoughby.
Following proclamation of Willoughby as a City on 11 November 1989*, the club's name was changed to the
Rotary Club of Willoughby City in 1992.
Up until mid-2001, the Club had met for lunch.
In 2000, the Club changed its name to
Rotary Club of Chatswood Sunrise and commenced meeting for breakfast.
