Outback Links ‘Spirit Raising’ Trip
Extended opportunity
Dear President and Members of 9640 Birdsville
Having done similar voluntary work out west in recent years Heather and I highly recommend the experience offered by the Outback Links ‘Spirit Raising’ trip.
We liken it to Project Volunteer projects traditionally done overseas
but in this case within Australia and we are proud to have registered
for consideration as volunteers.
Our NextGen Club Tag Along Tours and
voluntary work supporting Royal Flying Doctor Service at Mt Isa and at
the new Charleville hangar have been a big part of our recent Rotary
life.
In the past 3 years NextGen have also represented the Royal Flying Doctor Service at the Birdsville Raceweek Carnival held on September 1st to 3rd this
year. We run a large catering marquee selling cooked steak, sausage,
egg, bacon, mushroom, onion, BLT and water and soft drinks. We bring
everything in refrigerated trucks and rely on volunteers to run the
stall located close to the Pub within the food court. After the races on
Friday and Saturday the crowds head for us at the centre seeking
quality burger food at reasonable prices.
The extended opportunity
is that you may wish to travel to the Birdsville races, and then travel
on exploring the amazing western Queensland outback to arrive back at
Charleville to take up the wonderful Outback Links project starting 18th September.
We are seeking extra voluntary help with the Royal Flying Doctor Service Catering Marquee run by NextGen
especially on the Friday and Saturday evenings for a few hours. It is a
magic experience within a magic venue on the edge of the Simpson
Desert.
